Why Do We Do What We Do

Do you ever think about why you do what you do? For instance, do you do what you do to bring glory to God? Do you do what you do because it is God”s will and it will please Him? Do you do what you do because you love Him? Do you do what you do for yourself or for someone else? Do you think what you think because God wants you to think of that?

1 Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Peter 4:11: If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalms 19:14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

2 Corinthians 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Romans 15:1: We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

1 Corinthians 10:33: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Ephesians 6:5: Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Matthew 16:24: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

My pastor McBay has said more than once that the hardest person in the world to say no to is yourself. How often do you say no to yourself? How often do I? How often do we ask the Lord to show us His will and help us to do it? One more question: How often do we say no to our wonderful God?

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Luke 11:2b: . . . Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
